The Weekly Report: November 9-16 2025

United States

The U.S. military launched an airstrike on a boat in the Caribbean Sea that the Trump Administration said was partaking in narcotics trafficking. Four people are reported to have been killed in the strike. This latest strike is the 20th in a series of strikes on vessels, suspected to be carrying drugs, since September.

Asia

In Islamabad Pakistan, 12 people were killed and 27 wounded when a bomb was detonated near the entrance of a courthouse. The attacker who detonated the bomb has reportedly tried to enter the courthouse but failed according to the Pakistani Interior Minister. Following the attack, the Pakistani Defense Minister said that Pakistan is in a state of war.

Europe

Switzerland reached a deal with the U.S. to reduce tariffs from 39 percent to 15 percent on a variety exports from Switzerland including watches, chocolate, and gold. The 15 percent rate is the same as the rate with which the U.S. agreed to with the European Union in July. As part of the deal Switzerland agreed to invest 200 billions dollars into the U.S. by 2028.

Americas

Canadian travel to the U.S. continued has continued to decline. Last month air travel to the U.S. dropped by 24 percent while car travel dropped by more than 30 percent when comparing to the same time last year. The absence of Canadian travelers in the U.S. is contributing to a 3.2 percent drop in international spending.

Africa

The United Nations Human Rights Council ordered an investigation into mass killings that have taken place in the Sudanese City of El Fasher. El Fasher is located in Darfur Sudan, which was taken by a the R.S.F., paramilitary group, last month. The Council also ordered that a mission needs to be carried out to determine who is responsible for carrying out the war crimes.

Middle East

Iran seized a fuel tanker after it left a port in the UAE for Singapore. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it seized the vessel in order to protect national interests of Iran. U.S. Central Command, which oversees U.S. troops stationed in the region, said that it was aware of the incident and monitoring the situation.
