United States
In Washington D.C., President Trump hosted Mohammed Bin Salman (MBS) at the White House for dinner this past week. Prior to the dinner the two of them met in the Oval Office to discuss numerous different topics. The Crown Prince was able to get President Trump to commit to selling Saudi Arabia F-35 fighter jets, something that many U.S. government official are concerned about.
Asia
Alice Guo, a former Mayor of a town in the Philippines was sentenced to life in prison for trafficking people to a compound which was involved in online scams and organized crime. Guo was elected Mayor of the small town, which is roughly 50 miles north of Manila, in 2022. In addition to the life sentence Guo was fined 33 thousand dollars.
Europe
Talks between U.S. and Ukrainian officials will begin in the coming days in Switzerland. The talks will be focused on the most recent peace plan which was proposed by the Trump Administration. President Trump recently laid out a 28 point peace plan which he has been pressuring Ukraine to accept. The plan would involve Ukraine ceding a significant amount of its sovereign territory.
Americas
Former president of Brazil, Jair Bolsanaro was arrested just days before he was set to begin his 27 year prison sentence. Police were afraid that he may try to escape the country prior to turning himself in to begin his sentence. He was sentenced to 27 years in prison for launching an attempted coup.
Africa
Around 52 kids were kidnapped from a school in Nigeria. A local governor official said the number could be closer to 100. This kidnapping is the latest in Nigeria which has seen similar incidents take place recently. On Monday 24 muslim girls were kidnapped from a school.
Middle East
U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee met with Jonathan Pollard, an American who served 33 years in U.S. prison for spying on behalf of Israel. The meeting took place in July but news about it only surfaced this past week. The White House was reportedly not aware that the meeting took place.
