The Weekly Report: March 22-29 2026

United States

12 U.S. soldiers were injured following an Iranian attack on a U.S. military base in Saudi Arabia. Additionally, two KC-135 refueling tankers were reportedly damaged in the attack. This latest attack is one of the most serious breaches of U.S. air defense systems since the start of the conflict. This strike comes as the U.S. has reportedly been negotiating with Iran.

Asia

Pakistan has taken a leading position as a mediator between the U.S. and Iran. Pakistani leaders are known to have close relations with both Iranian and U.S. government officials. Specifically, Pakistans role, thus far, has been to pass messages between the leaders of the two nations currently at war.

Europe

Russian lawmakers, for the first time since the war in Ukraine began, visited the capitol at the invitation of U.S. Representative Anna Luna. All of the Russian individuals who were invited have been under U.S. sanctions, however these sanctions were temporarily lifted to accommodate their entry to the U.S. The four Russian lawmakers reportedly discussed peace talks, between Russia and Ukraine, with members of congress.

Americas

Canada has officially hit, for the first time, NATO’s spending target, which is 2 percent. Since Prime Minister Mark Carney was elected last year, Canadian military spending has drastically increased. Last year NATO set a 5 percent spending target which Canada has said it plans to reach by 2035.

Africa

64 people were killed in an attack on a hospital in Sudans Darfur region. 13 children were among those killed as well as a nurse and two doctors. It is still unknown who is responsible for the latest attack. Neither the Rapid Support Forces, a paramilitary group in Sudan, nor the country’s army have taken responsibility for the attack.

Middle East

Pakistan will host talks today with the foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt to discuss the current conflict in the Middle East. Pakistan has an interest in mediating this conflict due to the energy crisis it has began to face. The foreign ministers will also meet with Pakistans Prime Minister.
