United States
George Santos, former representative of New York, was granted a pardon by president Trump on Friday. President Trumo said that politics was one of the main reasons as to why he decided to grant clemency to Santos. Santos was sent to prison in July due wire fraud and identity theft.
Asia
One of Chinas top military commanders had been dismissed from his post and is set to be prosecuted on corruption charges and abuse of power. Gen. He Weidong is the latest military official to get charged with corruption. President Xi of China has charged many other top military officials with corruption so that he can ensure all military commanders are loyal to himself.
Europe
President Zelensky met with President Trump at the White House on Friday to discuss a potential ceasefire. President Trump said that he would like to see Ukraine and Russia restart peace negotiations before he decides whether or not he will provide Ukraine with the tomahawk missles as they have requested.
Americas
The U.S. announced other had detained two people who survived a U.S. Military strike on a boat carrying drugs in the Caribbean Sea. What will happened to the two survivors remains a questions. In all likelihood they will remained detained aboard the U.S. Navy vessel that they are currently on until the Trump Administration makes a final call.
Africa
In Cameroon, many protesters were arrested following a fire at an office of the governing party. People have ben protesting due to claims of fraud in the country’s elections. The results for the elections have yet to be announced. The Incumbent president Paul Biya, who is running for an eighth term, has faced rare opposition from Issa Tchiroma Bakary.
Middle East
The hostages, who were released by Hamas this past week, have been slowly adjusting back to a normal life. The hostages who were released had been held by Hamas for just over two years. Doctors in Israel said it would moths if not years for these hostages to return to normal due to the conditions in which they were held in Gaza.
