The World Today In Ten Bullets: First Female Prime Minister And No meeting Between Trump and Putin
Plans for a meeting between President Trump and president Putin of Russia seem to have went away according to the White House. President Trump said last week that he was planning to meet with President Putin in Hungary in the near future. The foreign minister of Russia Sergei Lavrov said that Russias stance on the Ukrainian issue is the same as it was during the last meeting between President Putin and President Trump in Alaska in August.
Japan now officially has its first female prime minister in its history, Takaichi Sanae. Her party, the Liberal Democratic Party, was able to form a coalition with the Japan Innovation Party. Sanae needed to form the alliance in order to gain enough support from Parliament.
President Trump said that he doese’t have any plans to meet with the democratic senate leader, Chuck Schumer or other top democrats to unless the government is reopened. Schumer alongside Hakeem Jeffries, the Democratic House Leader, reached out to President Trump about meeting.
