The Weekly Report: December 7-14 2025
United States
The U.S. military seized an oil tanker in the Caribbean Sea that was carrying oil from Venezuela. The vessel has been liked to the smuggling of oil from Iran. This particular ship has a history of carrying oil from countries sanctioned by the U.S. Many different U.S. agencies were involved in the seizure such as the FBI, Department of Homeland Security and many others.
Asia
The Prime Minister of Thailand made a move to dissolve the parliament, thus making way for elections to take place at an earlier date than previously expected. The elections must be held within 45 to 60 days. Military operations along the Cambodia-Thailand border, by the Thai Military, won’t be affected by the dissolving of parliament.
Europe
The Prime Minister of Bulgaria resigned due to public outrage over corruption. The protests initially started because of a proposed budget that would increase taxes and social security in order to fund more public spending. Overtime the protests widened to broader issues such as corruption.
Americas
This years Nobel Peace Prize winner María Corina Machado left Venezuela in order to go to Oslo to receive her prize. She missed the prize ceremony, but was still able to make it to Oslo in the end. Escaping her country was very difficult due to numerous military checkpoints in Venezuela and having to cross through the Caribbean Sea to an island where a private jet was waiting for her.
Africa
There was a coup attempt in Benin by members of the Military. However the coup plot was thwarted and 14 soldiers from the military were arrested. The president of the country went on national TV and said that the attempted coup would not go unpunished.
Middle East
Following an ambush on U.S. and Syrian forces in Syria, 2 U.S. soldiers have been killed along with a civilian interpreter. President Trump said that there would be very serious retaliation. The gunman was later killed by Syrian Forces. The casualties are the first for U.S. forces in Syria since the fall of former Dictator Bashar Al-Assad.
