The World Today In Ten Bullets: TikTok Deal And European Union Funding Deal To Ukraine
The owners of TikTok, Byte Dance, have signed legally binding agreements with Oracle, MGX, and Silver Lake to sell over 80 percent of its U.S. assets. This deal will allow TikTok to continue to operate in the U.S. The takeover will create a joint venture where a “Majority American Board” will oversee and control data protection and algorithm security in the U.S.
The leaders of the European Union (EU) reached a deal to loan Ukraine 106 billion dollars for two years. Ukraine will only be required to pay back the debt after the end of the war with Russia. The EU will continue to negotiate over the possible use of frozen Russian funds to provide Ukraine with new military hardware.
The main suspect in the Brown University school shooting was found dead with a self inflicted gunshot wound in a storage unity in New Hampshire. Officials also believe he was connected with the killing of M.I.T Professor Nuno F.G. Loureiro. The suspect was a former Brown student from 2000-2001.
