The Weekly Report: December 21-28 2025
United States
The U.S. Military has flown C-17 cargo planes to Puerto Rico over 16 times. These cargo planes are responsible for transporting troops, vehicles, and other military equipment. It has also been reported that special operations aircraft have also been moved to the region. All of this is part of a military buildup with the goal of putting pressure on Venezuela.
Asia
The military government in Myanmar is holding elections for the first time since it seized power five years ago. Many western governments and humanitarian groups say the elections are for show. The main opposition party in the country is banned from running in the elections. People say that the elections are being held now in order to legitimize the military junta.
Europe
President Zelensky is set to meet with President Trump at Mar-a-lago in Florida. The main topic that will be discussed is the ending of the war in Ukraine with regards to President Trumps peace plan. Specifically the two will most likely talk about the fate of the Donbas region and the control of a Russian occupied nuclear power plant. President Zelensky has said repeatedly that he doesn't think Russia has any interest in reaching peace.
Americas
Nasry Asfura was declared the winner of the presidential elections in Honduras. His opponent in the election Salvador Nasralla said that he would not concede and did not accept the results. Nasralla claimed that some contested votes had not been counted before the announcement of the result.
Africa
The highest ranking military officer in the Libyan military, Lt. Gen. Mohamed Ali Ahmed al-Haddad was killed alongside other senior Libyan officials in a plane crash. The Libyan officials had just finished meeting with Turkish officials. Their plane lost contact shortly after takeoff from Turkey.
Middle East
eight people were killed and 20 injured in an explosion at a mosque in Homs, Syria. An ISIS affiliated group took responsibility for the attack. This is the latest attack in Syria after U.S. Soldiers were killed by ISIS a few weeks ago. The U.S. Government has worked with the new Syrian Government recently to fight ISIS.
