United States
The Department of Justice releases around 3 million pages of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. This latest release of documents helped paint a picture of Epstein’s relationship with numerous people such as Bill Gates and Elon Musk. The DOJ said there was no interference from the White House as to which documents could be released. Additionally the DOJ said that they “didn’t protect or not protect anyone”.
Asia
President Trump announced that he would be increasing tariffs on South Korean exports to 25 percent due to South Korea not holding up its end of the deal. Specifically President Trump says that South Korea has been too slow to begin investment into the United States. As part of the deal South Korea was supposed to invest 350 billion Dollars into the United States.
Europe
President Putin of Russia agreed to pause strikes on Kyiv Ukraine for a week due to the extremely cold temperatures. Ukrainian officials reportedly asked the Russian delegation during a meeting between the two sides last weekend to which the Russian side agreed. The U.S., Ukraine, and Russia are still in the process of working towards a potential peace deal.
Americas
Cuba, which no longer receives oil from Venezuela since Maduro was ousted, appears to be on the brink of being cut off from receiving oil. Mexico is the only country left which is supplying the island nation with oil, however President Trump appears to be threatening to place tariffs on Mexico if it continues supplying oil. The President of Mexico said that of Cuba stops receiving oil then a humanitarian crisis could soon become a reality.
Africa
South Africa has been further scrutinized by the United States after Iran participated in a live fire military drill with other BRICS nations in South African waters. President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa reportedly requested that Iran be downgraded to observer status in an effort to help strained relations between South Africa and the U.S.. However in the end Iran still participated in the drills.
Middle East
Threats against Iran increased by President Trump this past week. Moreover President Trump said that if Iran didn’t meet a set of demands he would launch an attack on the nation. Additionally he says that Iran should make a deal in order to avoid a strike.
